2009

11:45 am Saturdays     LAKE WYLIE DAM to RIVER PARK
2 to 3.5 hour float
(This float not available until after May 1 due to renovations at the dam)

Meet us at River Park (see directions page).  We will transport you to the Dam.  Float your way down to River Park in Rock Hill where your vehicle awaits!  This is a fun section of the river, with lots of big rocks and some little rapids to maneuver around, as well as calm and flat sections. Lots of shallow areas to play in/picnic. Appropriate for all experience levels.  If you want a glimpse of this section, look down (if you aren't the driver) while crossing I-77 bridge or Cherry Road.

Highway 9 in Ft. Lawn to Cane Creek
Perfect for beginners/paddling with young children
The float begins at the Highway 9 bridge in Ft. Lawn, SC.  Float down the Catawba as it opens into the Fishing Creek Reservoir and becomes much more like a lake than a river, with no current.  It's beautiful!  We recommend you paddle a mile down to Cane Creek on the left, and explore this wide creek.  You'll be amazed at the number of egrets and herons you'll see.  This is deep water, and you'll see a few motorized boats on your way.  When you're done exploring, paddle back to the bridge, where we'll meet you. Take as long as you like, we'll arrange a meeting time to suit your group.

Landsford Canal State Park

We'll meet you at the main parking area of LCSP.  Put in the water at the park and paddle upstream as far as you like, then float leisurely back down to the park.  Hwy.5 bridge is 5 miles upstream.  This is a gorgeous float, you're likely to see an eagle or two.  Flat water, not much current, perfect for beginners and a beautiful workout for experienced paddlers that want a long stretch of flatwater. Great option for canoes/tandems/single kayaks.
